Uncle Buck is now one of the girls...lol

We decided long ago that we couldn't have any more crias around here...

just for a lack of space more than anything...

I'd totally love to have new crias every year!!

I phoned around to the 2 closest vets.. the one 30 miles away gave me a quote of $150... maybe more... I knew it would be tho.. he's known for being very expensive.. ( yrs ago when Mona got hit and only hurt her little toe he charges us $180 and then wanted to do x-rays and amputate her little toe on top of that... NO WAY!!!)
so I phoned Dr. Rob who is 45 or so miles away, they give me a quote of $70...
yeppers 1/2 the price...
his appt was this morning at 9...
we borrowed a crate for the back of the truck and off we go.
so we pull up at the vet clinic and I go in to tell them we're here and ask where they want Buckie... the lady working tells me that he'll probally just do him out in the front of the building.. ok cool.....so Dr. Rob comes out with some drugs to knock him out... he says just to leave him in the crate and he'll do him right in there... it was a big crate and Dr. Rob is a small guy.
15 mins later Buck goes down on his knees and still isn't dopey enough to do the cutting... Dr. Rob goes and gives him another dose... this time he's just about completely out... so he goes and gets his bucket of iodine and tools... climbs on in.. and starts... since Buck wasn't all the way out he kicked when the clamp went on.. not hard but a kick none the less... and the other one was the same thing... when he finished he poured some of the iodine over the cut and passed me the pail with the tools and "prairie oysters (not the band)"
Eeeeewwwwww....
he gave Buck some more drugs to bring him out of the sleepyness and I showed him that his skin under his belly is a bit flakey and he also gives him a shot of ivomec... Buck starts to wake up a bit and I go into pay...
and you want to know how much he charges me???
$21.20
$20 for the casteration and drugs and $1.20 for tax!!!
omg... I asked are you sure thats all...
he says yeah, I'm just charging you for the drugs.
omg... Dr. Rob rocks!!!
thats even $50 cheaper than his own quote!
I couldn't believe it... here I stopped at the back and took out $100, just incase it was a little more than $70...
Albert finished the fence in Bettys backyard today too... he tried to get the girls in there when he finishedd but since they don't trust him they wouldn't even go up to the fence line...
I came home, got DJ to help me weigh Lloyd (33 lbs already)
and then the girls followed us into the new green pasture...
it was so funny they didn't know what to do... all this new grass to eat and a new place to explore!!
they would take a couple bites and run over to the next corner and have another couple bites... and Lloyd... what a card he is...he does the Lloyd 500.
I tried to get some pics but man is he fast... by the time I got the button pushed down he was out of the frame!!
I did manage to get a few, they're dark but you get the idea

Albert wanted Buck to get some grass too but all Buck wanted to do was check out the girls again.

Poor Buckie.. Dr. Rob said he shouldn't be with the girls for at least another week just incase there are little swimmers still in him...

till next time...
